Cybersecurity and Networking, B.S. (University College)

This degree program, designed by faculty and industry professionals, provides students with the opportunity to study aspects of computing and technology related to TCP/ IP networking, telecommunication, and cyber security. This program was based upon the National Security Administrations recommended inventory for Cyber Defense but retains the networking skills necessary to pursue careers in the network administration or networking technology areas as well as cybersecurity specialists.

The program focuses on experiential, hands-on knowledge of computer technology, routers, switches, and other technologies which form the basis of cybersecurity as well as basic study in computer science. The program then pursues the development of baseline skill sets in cybersecurity techniques which are used in the industry at the entry level. Positions such as Network Administration/Tech, IT security specialist, Penetration Tester, Incident Responder, Security Operations Center Specialist, are all possible career entry points for students in this major. All students in this program must complete an internship (SEC 469 ) related directly to the discipline of Cybersecurity and Networking.

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity and Networking must satisfy the University Core Curriculum requirements, required courses, and general electives sufficient to total at least 120 credit hours. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in their major courses.
