HIST 399 - Methods and Historiography with Lab Prerequisites: For Majors only. HIST 100 and junior standing; or consent of instructor Examines the basic concerns of historians in the modern world, focusing on the development of history as an academic discipline, philosophies of history, and historical method. The lab stresses analysis and critique of models of historical writing, interpretation of primary source materials, and elements of style and form appropriate for scholarly publications in the historical field, through a series of writing assignments of increasing sophistication in preparation for the senior research seminar.
