EDU 612 - The Power and Promise of Inclusive Classrooms Prerequisites: None Virtually every classroom in the United States contains at least one child with a disability, a fact that presents both challenges, and great promise for regular classroom teachers and children alike. The primary emphasis of this course is on how to plan, manage, and evaluate learning effectively in diverse classroom settings, as special educators are increasingly asked to design, consult, and collaborate with regular classroom teachers who must often educate students with disabilities in mainstream settings. To this end, we will review research-based instructional practices appropriate for students with disabilities who are mainstreamed in regular classroom environments.
