CJS 533 - Crime Prevention Prerequisites: None This course will examine the theoretical basis and application of crime prevention techniques, with an emphasis on routine activity theory, rational choice, crime patterns, defensible space, crime prevention through experimental design and situational crime prevention. A wide range of problems and potential solutions will be explored. The strengths, weaknesses, practicality, policy challenges, and ethics of crime prevention approaches will also be assessed. Further, this course will include a close examination of the methodological issues surrounding the evaluation of crime prevention research studies.
