CORE 461 - Researching Race Prerequisites: Core seminar, required for graduation CORE 101 through CORE 105 and at least sixth semester standing Does the election of Barack Obama in 2008 signal a turning point in better understanding race, and the practice of racism, in the United States? Has the US overcome its history of differential treatment according to race and culture? In this course, students will take the long view of the history of race in the United States, how racism is operationalized, and the impacts of such bias, both on people of color and Whites. Additionally, students will engage in research on race and racism. Through this research, students will fuse the theoretical with the lived racialized experiences of those in our country/community.
