PH 103 - Health in Diverse Populations Prerequisites: None Requirement Fulfillment: Major, Minor, Core Concentration Delivery: Lecture Public health has a responsibility to promote health and prevent disease and injuries for millions of people at a time. This course provides an introduction to the social science perspectives and research strategies that explain the complex determinants of health issues at the population level. By critically examining the unequal distribution of disease in diverse contexts, students will learn about the interaction of social, cultural, and behavioral factors that cause some groups to suffer from poor health at high rates, while other groups enjoy long healthy lives.
