AQS 320 - Aquaculture and Aquarium Science (AQS) Practicum
Prerequisites: Completion of AQS 262, AQS 264, AQS 318 and Consent of Instructor
Requirement Fulfillment: Major, Minor
This practicum introduces students to an aquatic animal husbandry work environment and the care of captive aquatic animals. Students will function as a member of the production team within one of the CEED laboratories (e.g., shellfish hatchery, marine ornamental laboratory, experimental aquaculture farm) learning all aspects of operations specific to that lab. This may include broodstock development and spawning, larval rearing, nursery methodology and microalgae production. The experience will emphasize daily animal care and will require 100 hours of on-the-job participation each semester. (3 credits) Spring, Fall, Summer. May be repeated, but can only be applied to the AQS Major or Minor degree once. This course is offered Pass/Fail
