HIST 100 - Making Global History Fulfills a course requirement in the History Core Concentration This course challenges students to think beyond their western experience. With so much interplay between regional and world cultures, individuals are naturally shaped by events thousands of miles away. This is an introductory course that considers ‘other’ histories and how they shape our and others’ lives. We are aware of the British empire, but what about the Zulu empire? American sports culture and its nationalist undertones relate directly to attributes of China’s 19th-century Boxers. HIST 100 will encourage students to recognize these relationships and consider their broader historical meaning.
