Focuses on their respective power potential; leadership perceptions and character; domestic politics and trends; and the international setting for each country’s attempt to exercise power and influence. Through application of these variables, the source seeks to equip students with a general model of foreign policy behavior. Particular attention given to possible sources of conflict and to the elements of a stable 21st Century international system. Requirements include student role-playing as a Russian or Chinese participant in an end-of-the- semester simulation.
