PSYCH 367 - Evolutionary Psychology Prerequisites: PSYCH 100 or PSYCH 179 or BIO 103 This course examines the evolutionary development of behavioral, cognitive, and affective tendencies in humans. Special attention will be paid to possible sex differences in behavioral tendencies. Care will be taken to address the controversies involved in the nature/nurture debate. Dichotomization of the genetic factors from experiential factors will be evaluated in terms of what has come to be known as Galton’s Error (attempts to explain human traits as either inherited or due to environmental factors). The course represents an attempt to identify the various aspects of “human nature”.
