Delivery: Other In this course, prospective general education teachers and education professionals explore and discuss the social, political, and theoretical history of disability and special education in the United States, and the legal obligations and educational rights of children and adolescents with disabilities under federal law, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The primary emphasis in this course is for students to develop a strong understanding of the foundational components and histories that underpin special education and a core commitment to inclusion, access, and equity for all learners.
