CNST 455 - Building Systems


Prerequisites: CNST 200 + Lab or CNST 201 + Lab, or ARCH 231 and senior standing

Building Systems is an introduction to the design, construction and start-up of building systems to include mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems. Systems are covered as they relate to the duties and responsibilities of the construction management professional. The course covers fundamental design concepts, code requirements, material selection, system performance, and installation processes for a variety of systems, including: plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, fire protection, electrical distribution, lighting, low voltage, and building automation/controls. System startup, testing, and commissioning are also covered within the context of the project closeout phase.
