Prerequisites: Successful Completion of a 200-level WTNG course. Requirement Fulfillment: Minor, Core Concentration This course broadens students’ understanding of the essay as a genre, with emphasis on analyzing and writing the personal essay. Through a socio-cultural perspective, students investigate why the personal essay is persuasive discourse that parallels pathos in argument. Readings proceed from the historical to the contemporary in the arts and sciences.
