CLS 105 - The Odyssey Requirement Fulfillment: Major, Minor Delivery: Lecture For over twenty-five hundred years, Homer’s Odyssey has influenced literature, art and thought in the western world. In this course students will closely read the poem in English, discussing the various episodes and interpretations of Odysseus’ stories, consider its influence on Greek literature and explore how the Odyssey reflects western thought. Lastly, students will examine the legacy of the text in later epic poems by Virgil and Dante. Minimum Passing Grade: Normal grading standards. D- is passing. Repeatable: Yes
