EDU 316 - Classrooms as Communities Prerequisites: EDU 200 and EDU 202 Fulfills a requirement in the Elementary Education major The primary purpose of this course is to introduce students to the ways in which collaborative models and strategies can be used to help teachers to build and maintain a strong sense of community (both within and outside of their classrooms). Course topics also include an examination of the role of culture, family structure, and socioeconomic status on children’s success as well as an assessment of current theories of social-emotional development and behavioral self-regulation.
