COMM 385 - Gender, Globalization and the Media Prerequisites: COMM 100 and junior standing or consent of instructor Fulfills a course requirement in the Communication & Media Studies major, and the Global Communication Minor and core Concentration This course examines how definitions of gender and sexuality are reproduced, negotiated and deployed in the context of globalization and the transnational flows of media and marketing messages. By reading a range of theoretical texts, case-studies and analysis, students will understand some of the larger debates in globalization as reflected through the lens of gendered identities and sexuality.
