PR 111 - Writing for the Mass Media

Prerequisites: WTNG 102 
Corequisite: COMM 101 
This is a skill-based course that provides students with a broad introduction to writing news for the mass media. Strong emphasis will be placed on writing Public Relations materials for client organizations, real and fictional, for a variety of media platforms and different publics. Through weekly writing assignments and writing workshops, students learn the basic structure and principles of writing copy for both Journalism and Public Relations, including news stories, news releases and media advisories.
