DSGN 200 - History of Design Communication Prerequisites: DSGN 100 ; or consent of instructor Fulfills a course requirement in the Graphic Design Core Concentration In this course students examine the development of graphic design communication and its relationship to the larger social, economic, political and cultural contexts through the course of human development. Although emphasis is placed on the rapid development of the discipline from the industrial revolution through the end of the twentieth-century, a broader historical analysis is necessary to provide a strong foundational context in trends and trendsetters, innovations and innovators. Course requirements include an intensive series of reading and writing assignments.
