STEM 505 - Food Science for Educators Requirement Fulfillment: Fulfills a requirement for the STEM Education Masters Program. Delivery: Lec/Lab
Food science uses principles of biology, chemistry, and physics to understand and improve food production, preparation, and distribution. This interdisciplinary study introduces students to foundational concepts across multiple fields of science making it an ideal course for educators. STEM 505 is an introduction to both the concepts of food science as well as methods of teaching them through research based science pedagogy. The laboratory component of the course will blend hands on activities appropriate for young learners as well as instrumentation typically found in food research and production facilities.
