BIO 405 - Cellular Metabolism and Human Disease Prerequisites: BIO 200 and Junior or Senior standing, or permission of the instructor. Requirement Fulfillment: Major, Minor, Core Concentration This course examines how changes in molecular processes that occur at the cellular level contribute to the pathophysiology of human disease. The course evaluates three chronic human diseases in this context: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The course covers in detail the biochemical pathways involved in carbohydrate, lipid, protein, and nucleic acid metabolism, and illustrates how perturbations in these pathways result in disease pathology.
