BIO 371 - Cancer Biology Prerequisites: BIO 200 or consent of instructor. Requirement Fulfillment: Major, Minor, Core Concentration Cancer Biology is an overview of the basic biological mechanisms that underlie the process of transformation: the path from a normal, healthy cell to a renegade cell that can divide uncontrollably and seed far-flung metastases. The main focus of the course includes the hallmarks of cancer cells as well as cancer treatments and their mechanisms of action. A large portion of the course will be devoted to reading primary literature in cancer biology.
