POLSC 403 - Unlocking Leadership

This course is not your traditional leadership course. Most academic leadership education/courses look outward to identify categories of “successful” leaders and their associated traits, characteristics, skills, etc. Unlocking Leadership looks inward, to develop leaders that listen more mindfully, speak more mindfully and act more mindfully. This approach does not require additional leadership knowledge, but the uncovering, awakening and development of the potential in each student to foster social and political leadership. The focus of this course is applied and practice-oriented to facilitate learning in real time on real political and sustainability projects. Students will leave this course with an expanded personal and worldview, capable of being an effective leader by exercising the leadership necessary to change our current trajectory of environmental degradation to one of sustainability for all species.
