Topics include the postwar rebuilding and strengthening of the rule of law in western Europe; the formation and evolution of the European Union, the end of the Cold War; transitions to democracy in central and eastern Europe; the resilience of nationalism; the resurgence of extremist political parties; and the foreign policy behavior of key states and the European Union.
